In a candid reflection, Sharon Osbourne opened up about the first time she met Ozzy. She was just 18, working with her father, legendary music manager Don Arden, when Black Sabbath walked into the office seeking management. Her initial reaction? Not even close to love at first sight.

“They were all odd and hairy,” she recalled with a laugh. Accustomed to American artists who were polished, stylish, and well-groomed, Sharon found herself bewildered by the unkempt rockers from the north of England. “They didn’t look or dress like anything I’d ever seen.”

But everything changed that same evening. After watching Black Sabbath perform live in London, Sharon was floored. The energy, the raw power, the sheer uniqueness of their music captivated her. “I was blown away,” she said. “That’s when I became interested in Black Sabbath.”

By 1979, the professional relationship between Sharon and Ozzy was well underway. But it wasn’t until 1980 that something deeper began to take shape. As they worked side by side, a personal connection grew.

“He was so funny, so quick-witted, and very vulnerable,” Sharon explained. “He was the sweetest guy I’d ever met.”

Their early years together were far from easy. Ozzy was going through a divorce, and Sharon was disentangling herself from her father’s complex and often damaging business practices. Everything in her father’s company had been placed in Sharon’s name — taxes, contracts, debts. When things fell apart, she was the one held responsible.

“When the tax man came and took the house, I realized… everything was in my name. My father was free and clear.”

Amid this personal and financial turmoil, Ozzy and Sharon started their life together with nothing. “The world was after me,” she said, “and Ozzy had nothing. So we both started with nothing.”

And yet, from those humble and chaotic beginnings, they built something extraordinary — a marriage that has spanned decades, survived battles with addiction, public scandals, and deep personal challenges.
